Hiking

Souvala is sited on the north section of Aegina which is almost totally covered by a beautiful forest of pine trees. The visitor has the possibility to take a walk through these beautiful woods.

Beginning from the hotel XANTHIPPI and in a distance of 15 minutes towards the hills you reach the forest, where you can walk for about 2 hours, return included. Throughout almost the whole walk you find yourself all alone among the pine trees, listening to the birds and enjoying the fascinating view of the sea from the highest point.

There is also access to the woods through the beach.

If you can stand it for more, you may also visit Afaia’ s Temple. The whole walk (return included) will last 3,5 to 4 hours.

Following the rural street from Afaia you get in Aghia Marina in 15 minutes. You can return by bus or taxi.

Palaia Chora (Old City), also known as Mystras of Aegina, is also a quite charming destination.

Following the road to Aghios Nektarios, after an hour of walking (all way up) from the hotel XANTHIPPI, you reach a hill studded with Byzantine little churches.
You need an extra hour to visit some of them.
At the foot of the hill you also find the monastery of Aghios Nektarios.
