Aegina is an island with many churches and monasteries. It is said that on every mountain top a little church is built. That is why religious tourism prospers here.
Nowadays only 38 out of the 565 churches have been saved, which are of Royal architectural rhythm and are categorized in three different architectural types:
a. One-room Retrospective temples
b. Royal Free-crossed temples with a dome
c. Twin Royal Temples with two sanctuaries – entrances.
